It was invented in 2008 by a person, or a team of people, named Satoshi Nakamoto. According to report, it is an incorruptible digital ledger of economic transactions that can be programmed to record not just financial transactions but virtually everything of value.
Its design goal is to speed up and simplify how transactions are recorded. Any type of asset can be transacted using the blockchain in an entirely decentralized system. On the blockchain, trust is established, not by powerful intermediaries like banks, governments and technology companies, but through mass collaboration and clever code. Settlement and clearing time is reduced to seconds. The distributed ledger is replicated on thousands of computers around the world and is kept secure by powerful encryption algorithms. The technology is so disruptive that it may in time spur new changes in how companies and even governments work.
Blockchain provides the opportunity to introduce new products and services, reduce costs of existing services and significantly reduce transaction times, from days to seconds.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial intelligence (AI) is an intelligence exhibited by the machines. Fintech companies deal with a lot of data points and put it into action but analyzing it, drawing insights and learning from the ever growing data to evolve, is where the role of Artificial Intelligence comes in, as it helps to make sense of the data and provide key enablements for the system to evolve.
The scope of AI will impact various key areas within the Fintech industry, like: customer support, reporting tools, data security, decision-making, etc. In financial services, AI will be deployed in the back-end to improve decision making and financial analysis while on the consumer facing side, it will transform the interface for human interactions with the software and the use of chat bots and voice systems for customer support, thereby lowering the costs.
Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence technologies have already begun paving the way for drastic transformation in the Fintech industry and its mass adoption across the markets will accelerate at speed the new financial ecosystem.
